IN A VINTAGE MOOD
Autumn Winter Collection 2019

The inspiration for this collection is the fashions of the 1940s and 50s. During the 2nd world war, clothes were reused and recycled, and creative solutions had to be found due to the scarceness of resources. After the war, excitement and joie de vivre re-emerged in fashion and we returned to a more lavish use of materials. This is when the gorgeous full poodle skirts we associate with the 50s came into fashion.
We have found our inspiration in old Vogue photos, photos of our Danish Princess Margrethe on a skiing vacation in Norway, stills from iconic Danish films of the era and nostalgic book covers we remember from our childhood. We have also looked at the charming illustrations and photos from sewing and knitting patterns from the time period. We have taken the creativity of the 1940s and the exuberant joy of the 1950s as our starting point when creating our collection “In a Vintage Mood”. The collection is paying tribute to women’s bodies with clothes fit for both the everyday life and special occasions. Beautiful and timeless knitting designs perfect for red lipstick, poodle skirts and patent leather shoes.
The collection was photographed in the beautiful old Radiohuset building on Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. This is a building where attention has been paid to every little detail. Where birch, beech and teak wood in combination with marble from Greenland has created the perfect backdrop for our vintage inspired Fall collection. The Radiohuset building once housed the Danish national radio. The construction of the building began in 1936 but was not finished until 1945. Every detail was given an extraordinary amount of attention, to delay the completion of the work, so the building could not be official declared open by the occupying power. Once Denmark had been freed, it took very little time for the work to be completed.
