Colours of the Scandinavian Summer - AW18

Since my teen years I have been fascinated by the colours and the light in the paintings by the French impressionist painters. On a recent trip to Paris, I lost myself looking at art in the oval rooms at Musée de l’Orangerie, where some of Monet’s beautiful water lily paintings are exhibited, in a setting just made for them. There is something magical about the way the water lilies are almost floating in the incredibly beautiful colours.

Fortunately, our day to day life at Filcolana is also filled with beautiful colours, and it is always such a pleasure to plan a new collection with our designers. Back home from Paris, my head started swirling with ideas of a collection inspired by the impressionist painters.
As a  Scandinavian company, we enjoy being inspired by the world around us, and we know that there have been Scandinavian painters who journeyed out into the world to study with some of the same teachers as the French impressionists. Afterwards they returned home, inspired by what they learned, to share it and let the light, the life and the colours of the region at the northernmost part of Denmark, around the town of Skagen, be the inspiration for their art.

For this years’ autumn- and winter collection we have let ourselves be inspired by the light, the life and the colours of these Skagen Painters’ works. We hope you will enjoy it and feel inspired to knit in the beautiful colours of the Scandinavian Summer.
